How scanning works
- Open the Scan tab and hold a card in front of the camera, flat and well lit.
- Sparkl matches it to the exact printing: set, number, language and finish (normal, holo, reverse holo and other variants).
- Check the match and the market price, then add it. Wrong finish or language? Change it before adding.
- For a binder, scan a whole page at once instead of card by card.
Prices from both big markets
Every card shows its Near Mint market price on TCGplayer (USD) and Cardmarket (EUR), the same prices you will find on its public page, for example Charizard ex #199. The two markets rarely agree: in the Sparkl TCG Index for September 2026, cards worth $50 or more were 9.1% cheaper on Cardmarket at the median.
After the scan
- Collection value: your total, how it changes, and the cards that weigh the most.
- Sets and master sets: what you own, what is missing, and what finishing a set would cost.
- Price alerts: pick a target price and get notified when a card reaches it.
- Graded and sealed: track PSA, CGC and BGS slabs and sealed products next to your raw cards.
- Web app: everything you scan on iPhone is on app.sparkl.gg, ready to sort on a bigger screen.
Tips for a clean scan
- Use even light and tilt holo and foil cards slightly to kill the glare.
- Fill most of the frame with the card; sleeves are fine, thick top loaders reflect more.
- Double-check the finish on cards that exist in several (normal, reverse holo, first edition).
